How to eat healthy on the go.
Here’s a topic you don’t hear discussed enough among people in the fitness space: How to eat healthy on the go.
Our lifestyles can easily get in the way of accomplishing our goals. Our society moves quickly and we move quickly with it. This “always on the go” mentality can lead to poor last-minute choices for meals and snacks.
A recent 12-week diet study where participants had meal and exercise plans created for them showed an alarming 50 percent dropout rate due to stress.
They key to success for a busy person is being prepared and having healthy meals ready to go. Planning these means isn’t difficult, but most people won’t invest even an hour every week to do the work required. The week slips by with missed workouts, stressful running around, extra grocery store trips, and, before you know it, drive-through visits.
Success comes down to making sure you’re proactive, not reactive, and the only way to accomplish this is to have a plan.
- Cook your meals in advance and store them in serving-size containers. If cooking isn’t realistic for you, you can also get pre-made healthy food from most grocery stores.
- Get yourself a nice cooler bag that can store your meals during the day. Packing a cooler or bag with your meals helps you stay on track and avoid the drive-thru and vending machines.
- Heat those meals as you get hungry throughout the day. If you are on the go, most gas stations have a microwave you can use to heat your food.
Remember: You’re either planning to win or you’re planning to fail by not planning at all.
